Sure he is simple droid. But R2 is one of the main reasons The Black Series will be a great hit for years to come.
R2-D2. A simple cylinder with a dome head and a couple of "legs" with wheels on them. He is iconic and represents all that is good about Star Wars. He never becomes annoying in the forced prequel appearances (his flying rockets would be the only bad part of that) like his golden counterpart does and Hasbro respects and delivers him properly in 6 inch scale. In fact, I would dare say that they made him quite awesome!
Packed with a slew of accessories and configuration options, R2 is a lot of fun to play with. Popping off his top panels and swapping his leg accessories becomes fun and you can spend a lot of time messing with the different looks. Two hidden arms can be posed out of his body and if you spin his head the right way (the wrong way and it just clicks around letting you face him where you want to), his third leg appears. (I really couldn't come up with a way to say that without sounding a bit dirty.) His periscope eye, "radar" dish, and Jedi Luke lightsaber accessories are fantastic. I think the only thing missing is the Jabba's barge drink tray and maybe some "zapped" accessories as we all know R2 gets beat up a lot! Not too shabby considering everything else he was packed with. The sculpted detail of R2, doesn't leave much to be desired. Love my R2!!! I look forward to C-3P0 and expect him to be in Chewie's wave with a way to break him apart and carry on the wookie's back... I have high hopes for The Black Series now that I have the first wave. Let's hope they can keep up this momentum! This IS the droid you are looking for!!
