Marvel Universe Masterworks – Sentinel (and variant)

So the new Marvel Legends are starting to show up (see Jason’s reviews so far here, here, and here), but for us 3 3/4” collectors, we’re in kind of a slow period right now.  Some folks are still trying to track down Wave 17 and the latest comic packs, but without even so much as a pre-order for Wave 18 on the horizon, and with Avengers movie line figures still about three weeks out (though the 2/27 street date apparently didn’t stop a few So Cal Toys R Us stores from putting them out), there really isn’t any NEW product to hunt for and review in the 3.75” world at the moment.

So what am I going to do about that?  Play with some giant f@#&ing robots, that’s what. 

Full disclosure:  I f@#&ing love giant f@#&ing robots, and the Sentinels from the Marvel Universe have long been a favorite of mine.

Back in the Top Ten Releases of 2011 article, I gave this guy an honorable mention for being badass.  So now with nothing really new to review this week, we’re going to take a closer look at 2011’s biggest Marvel Universe figure.

SDCC 2012: GI Joe

We all love them and hate them.  Exclusives.  I actually love them more when they give us a big dose of suck.  When we got moive exclusives for RoC, it was a big win.  No torture.  No pain.  No need to buy that crap.  But this year.  This year tops last year by a mile.  Just look at that Shockwave Cannon!!!!!!!!!  I'm sold.  I was hoping for a figure with it.  Now I don't care.  Doesn't need it.  But some Destro decked out in SIlver in purple might look nice or even a purple Renegades style Stormy.  But I don't need one.  That thing is AWESOME!  Better than the Starscream Skystriker...  well maybe not the Megatron gun part of it, but yah.  AWESOME!

GI Joe Cycle Armor with Ashiko

I love Ross.  All Joe fans love Ross, well except of you that don't have one.  So far in the past couple of months we have seen Resolute packs and the TRU exclusive Quick Kick and Spirit come through.  Now we have the canceled Alpha vehicles!  I found one Cycle Armor and one Hiss Scout.

The Cycle Armor is a great idea, but it should have been scrapped somewhere in the development process.  The figure looks silly with the peg holes.  The bike is bulky and the figure can barely ride it.  Combined it does look nice, but I don't see any reason whatsoever to ever take him apart.  The paint/color scheme is also fairly dull for my liking.  On both the figure and bike.  Not to mention his darn right hand pops out easy!  Hopefully it is just mine and not the whole production.

Not Action Figures, Tech: HP Pavilion dv6-6c50us Notebook

So a few weeks ago, my HP dv-5 series laptop decided to have a heart attack and die.  More accurately, as my buddy Patch and I discovered during the autopsy, the motherboard fried itself.  This has made writing and editing photos for this site a little difficult, so obviously, I was in the market for a new laptop (I don't like desktop PC's for my needs, they're too.... stationary...)

Arkham City: Catwoman 2-packs

Mattel's Arkham City: Catwoman 2-packs are mine.  Courtesy of my informant Joe.  He phoned me with the information that Toys R Us had these plastic beauties.  I made sure to add them to my Arkham City display.

First off, Catwoman is spectacularly sculpted.  Seriously, she looks really nice.  Now the sculpt affects the articulation, but I will forgive them for that.  I would love to pose her in more positions, however lack of leg movement and crazy ass heels prevent it.  Look at that, already over it.  I was surprised she could even stand on her own.  (No peg hole in the foot either)

GI Joe Retaliation Figure pics!

Today is a good day to be a Joe fan.  We get the super bowl spot on Apple Trailers and I am sure all Joe fans are surprised that USA Today has a story and pics of GI Joe: Retaliation figures..  Not only am I surprised but I love the look!  Looks like we are in for a treat for the second movie.  GOOD FIGURES!  Wow... can't wait to see the packaging!

Review: Transformers Ultimate Collector's Trilogy Blu-ray

Is this mammoth release worth the $90 price, or is a another bloated effort in the TF's line?

Well, the thang came in the mail today!  Gotta love Amazon Prime!!  And for any of you who had doubts about this release, RELAX!  It's everything that was advertised, and will go down as one of the most impressive box set releases in years.  Here's my review:

Transformers Prime - ROLL OUT!

It's Joe, and once again it's Prime-Time!

It's finally here! Thanks to Jason, I was finally able to grab the new Transformers: Prime Voyager scale Optimus Prime! I've been waiting a while now for this to hit the shelves. Unfortunately, the deluxe version has yet to hit the shelves around here. I was able to nab one of the SDCC versions, but one of the actual figures from the line would be nice to have. But, for now, Voyager scale goodness. Let's check it out...
