TMNT: Raphael

This hero on the half shell is the grittiest one, the one that I'd never want to meet in a dark alley, Raphael. Playmates managed to keep that chaotic good feel in this figure. More after the jump

Raphael looks like he's about to hulk out of the packaging. Maybe he's not too fond of Turtle Purple and Green. If that's the case, I hope he can hulk out Red Hulk style.

Michelangelo should take grimmacing lessons from Raphael. He seriously looks he's just as upset over Shae Vizla's face as Zak is. What I dig about this figure is the chunk of his shell that's missing. Like Raph got into a fight that was maybe a little more than he could handle. Overall, Raphael is a little more beat up looking than his brothers, which says to me that Playmates knew what they were doing with the turtles.

His paint job is also a lot darker. Skin and shell are much darker than the other turtles'. Raphael comes with a pair of sais that have double sided yoku (prong like side guards), a pair of sais with only one yoku, two shuriken and two that I can't seem to find the name of. Perhaps I should play Ninja Gaiden again.

  1. Those are short Chinese hook swords.

  2. I've been on the fence with these figures ever since they were announced, but I think you've sold me on them. I'll have to pick them up eventually. And yeah, that's pretty much the same face I made when I opened Shae Vizla.
